Vehicles in Germany's Town Found Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Police Report

Police stated they were contacted by a man who found a car in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Approximately fifty cars have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Officers state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.

The liquid had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Officers then discovered numerous other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials say initial examinations show the fluid was likely blood from a person.

"Currently there is no lead as to its source; authorities are currently not aware of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they commented.

Local authorities stated they were attempting "to solve the case" and have requested to the residents for details.

A high-ranking official commented the vandalism rendered him stunned and needed to be solved promptly.

"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on social media, recalling the murder of nine people by a assailant targeting people of foreign heritage in 2020.
